If you are among the many Americans who suffer from headaches, you know from experience that these are difficult at times to avoid. Headaches appear almost automatically at times, mostly caused from stress.
Fainting could also occur, if the pain gets bad enough. A headache is usually a mild to sever, deep or temporal throbbing pain in the head. It can also affect our neck and upper back.
There are many different types and classifications of headaches, but most of all headaches are brought on by an overwhelming amount of stress, sitting to long in front of a computer, too much noise as well as many other factors.
One of the main factors in headaches is tension, the build up of tension in the neck, scalp, and facial area. The course of relief usually used here is an over the counter Tylenol or ibuprofen or taking a nap to help relieve the pain. However, we cannot just take a nap to relieve the pain at in point in the day.
If we are working or out shopping what is the course to follow.
Another point is, that when a headache comes on, our supply of Tylenol or ibuprofen may have been diminished.
Do not fret!!!!
We can manage headaches, anywhere and everywhere through massage.
“Massage” is the practice of applying pressure or pressure with vibration to parts of the body, to heal an injury, relieve psychological or emotional stress, manage and or relieve pain, improve circulation, and relieve tension. Self-massage is a very good technique to start using when a headache starts.
Self-massage is very simple and it can be done at either work or home.
Here are some steps to start massaging away headaches.
1) Eye Massage – First close your eyes.
Place your middle fingers to your eyes. In a very gentle way massage your eyes in a circular motion for about a minute.
2) Eyebrow Pressure Massage – using your thumb or forefingers, trace the underside of the eyebrow. Find where the bone meets the bridge of the nose. Use gentle pressure, and press on this point with your thumbs or forefingers.
Press for about 10 seconds each time, you can do this about four times.
3) Neck Massage – When doing a self neck massage move your fingers and hands to the back of your head to the base of your skull. Right at the point where the neck meets the skull. Using a circular motion massage for a couple of minutes using the tips of your fingers.
4) Massaging the Scalp – Using the palm of your hands massage the top of your scalp for several minutes gently. Once you have completed all these massages, do some deep breathing. For about 10 seconds, also, lifting your shoulders to up an letting them back down to the natural position will help relieve the lagging tension that is still there. You will feel better when this is done a couple of times.
The massage, with the deep breaths and shoulder shrugs will relieve the headache, and make your head feel less weighty.
